THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DREAM
From September 19th 2000 to May 2nd 2001, i was very fortunate to be involved with UEFA aiding them with copying of statistics for all the media. It was a dream come true as i was allowed passes into the ground and so was fortunate to watch all the home games.
Below is a collection of the Champions league paraphernalia that i collected during the champions league dream.

What was great about the Champions league dream was that to begin with, ex-Leeds player David Wetherall scored a header against Liverpool for Bradford which meant that if we got a point at West Ham (A) we qualified for the qualifying rounds where we beat 1860 Munich in both legs (3-1 on agg).

We came up against some of the best footballers in the world and the players never looked out of place.   We were written off time and time again, most notably from Anderlecht coach Aime Antheunis and we all know what happend to them. They were all magic nights at Elland Road, but the one that gave me the greatest satisfaction was the 3-0 drubbing of Deportivo La Coruna, that night God looked over Elland Road.
Some of the gifts given to me from the UEFA officials
These were the passes that we had to wear that gave us entry into the stadium.   What was funny was that the uefa office was situated in a building behind the Kop. So to get from the south-west corner where we stood back to the office we were transported back and forth on golf buggy's.   It was pretty cool riding around on them.
Just in case you thought that Clyde Tyldesley and Co were really clever at knowing all the stats....their not that good, UEFA has all the useful bits typed out for them.
These are some examples of what i was involved in, no i am not a statistician or anything like that, i for my sins am a photo-copier engineer for Canon in Leeds and UEFA used Canon products to copy all this jargon for the TV pundits and journolists.
It is a shame that some of the reproduction quality is not very favourable on a computor screen, sorry.
A colleague and i just had to hang around in case either of the copiers broke down.   Neither did so it was an easy life, free football, food and the UEFA promotion girls were pretty nice too.
These are some books that UEFA gave me containing all the stats, info and interviews in.   These were not put on sale to the general public just given out to the media.   They maybe rare and worth a few pounds in years to come?.

Well i hope that you have enjoyed our trawl back in time to the 2000/01 Champions league dream, it was just a real shame that we missed out the following year, it certainley was for me a dream come true!!!.
